Burr Ridge, IL (April 10, 2019) — Integrated Project Management Company, Inc. (IPM), a national business consulting firm that advises and executes on complex and strategic initiatives for healthcare, life sciences, consumer products and industrial companies, received the prestigious 2018 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award during the Award Ceremony held on Sunday, April 7, at the 31st annual Quest for Excellence® Conference in National Harbor, MD.
The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award—named after the 26th Secretary of Commerce—is the nation’s only presidential Award for performance excellence and innovation. It was established by Congress in 1987 to enhance the competitiveness and performance of U.S. businesses.
Among hundreds of organizations eligible to apply for this coveted Award because of their top-tier ranking at the state level, IPM was selected as one of five 2018 recipients. IPM is only the fifth consulting firm to ever earn the distinction, and now, joins the vaulted ranks of 123 winners recognized since the program began.
Accepting the Award for IPM was C. Richard Panico, IPM’s Founder, President and CEO, and Larry Meyer, Managing Director of Knowledge & Process Management.
“Companies that undertake the Baldrige journey are on a quest to define, apply and continuously improve processes to realize their strategy, growth and profitability. In my experience, even the best processes fall short without the enablers of people, attitudes and culture. Measured against the Baldrige Excellence Framework, IPM successfully demonstrated its outstanding practices, results and continuous improvement systems for each of the seven performance excellence criteria: leadership, strategy, customer relationships, measurement, workforce empowerment, operations, and results.
At the Conference, IPM shared aspects of the company’s Malcolm Baldrige journey in two presentations:
- “Essential Leadership” described the overlap between the Baldrige Excellence Framework and IPM’s own Essential Leadership System. Panico discussed details about how qualifying for the Award enabled IPM to analyze and further improve this System and impacted its ongoing continuous improvement and growth imperatives.
- “Scaling the Business Insightfully” described how IPM applied and improved its own Strategic Realization Model to qualify for the Award. IPM COO Mike McLeod discussed how the Baldrige journey catalyzed a new focus to key performance indicators, brought new insights into the business, and helped align IPM’s trajectory with what was most important for growth.
Throughout 2019, IPM will be sharing its Malcolm Baldrige experiences in these and other presentations to business leaders in several states through Malcolm Baldrige-affiliated organizations.
This prestigious Award follows Baldrige Program recognition IPM received in 2017 at the state level with the 2017 ILPEx Gold Award for Achievement of Excellence.
