With 80 percent of the active pharmaceutical ingredients in U.S. drugs originating from outside the country, the risk of a tainted supply chain is higher than ever—and the results can be deadly. Counterfeit and adulterated drugs are a rising problem, and although the FDA is working to better regulate the supply chain, the threat is real.
