LOCAL BUSINESS LEADER NAMED
CHAIRMAN of UNIVERSITY'S ETHICS INSTITUTE

December 5, 2001 -- Chicago, IL -- C. Richard Panico, founder and president of Integrated Project Management Company, Inc. (IPM), has been named Chairman of the Institute For Business and Professional Ethics (IBPE) at DePaul University.

According to Dr. John Ahern, executive director of the IBPE, the purpose of the Institute is to encourage ethical deliberation in decision-makers by stirring the moral conscience and imagination. "Our primary mission is to provide a forum for exploring and furthering ethical practices in business organizations," notes Dr. Ahern.

Panico's goals as chairman mirror those of the IBPE. "As a priority, I intend to make the IBPE' purpose clear, its value unmistakable, its influence penetrating, and its direction fully aligned to DePaul's ethics curriculum," he notes. "Working together with Dr. Ahern, we intend to strengthen collaboration between the University's staff and the IBPE Board to maximize the opportunity to blend real world ethical challenge experiences with academic curricula; this will accrue benefits to students, and provide insightful information to teachers and business leaders."

"Clearly, I envision the IBPE as a vehicle for raising the ethical consciousness of society through the students and business leaders whose perspectives are broadened by our efforts," he continues.

Panico will hold office for two academic years. His formal responsibilities will include presiding at all meetings for the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee; analyzing and/or adopting recommendations from these groups to further the cause of the IBPE; and presenting for consideration any matters of policy or program that he desires to bring to the attention of other Board Members for future action.

Founded in 1985, the IBPE coordinates a number of programs annually that includes the Vincentian Colleges International Conference on Business Ethics, workshops on teaching ethical issues in the business classroom, and a lecture series on values in the workplace.

"It is truly an honor to be named to this position," according to Panico. "IPM was founded on the same principles embraced by the IBPE -- integrity, leadership, an unswerving commitment to ethical decision-making, and a common value system that binds the entire organization." Panico joins business leaders from companies such as Pharmacia, Abbott Laboratories, Boeing, Motorola, and Salomon Smith Barney, among others, on the Committee.

IPM, with offices in Burr Ridge, IL and St. Louis, was founded in 1988. The company provides professional project management services and counsel through its six business segments, ranging from business consulting to engineering, to companies serving health care, industrial, information and communications and consumer markets.
