Job Overview:
The trainer / project manager candidate has in-depth knowledge, training, and experience in professional project management aligned with the Project Management Institute's (PMI) Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK). The trainer / project manager candidate has gained additional training and experience in developing and facilitating training in project management, leadership, communications, and other interpersonal skills.. Using this background, this position assesses training needs and identifies gaps, designs and develops training materials and interventions to address the defined needs, and facilitates the training. The trainer / project manager works with others to define and achieve the training objectives and builds positive professional relationships with fellow employees and clients. Training design and development will focus primarily on project management, relationship building, leadership, and interpersonal / soft skills.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Identify core training requirements by each job classification.
- Identify and evaluate options to satisfy the training requirements. These options may include other IPM employees, outside resources, internal classes, outside classes, etc. Present recommendations to management.
- Assess individual and company training needs and identify the gaps. Develop gap and training development priority recommendations.
- Develop training materials and methods to address each element or skill considered part of core training.
- Organize, coordinate, and facilitate training sessions and workshops. This may from time to time include supporting client training.
- As appropriate, teach training skills to individuals whose expertise or experience can benefit the overall employee training efforts.
- In conjunction with management personnel and individual employees, identify specific training requirements that are not part of core training, but are necessary to address specific performance issues or support career advancement.
- Develop training programs to address individual needs and/or identify external training sources to address these needs.
- Assess and qualify external training programs/venues and provide training recommendations to IPM management.
- In concert with IPM’s Strategic and Annual Plans, develop supporting training initiatives.
- Establish and publish regular communications (tips, etc.), periodic training schedules, and maintain personnel training records.
- Establish and execute a formal training feedback process that identifies key metrics and that measures the training quality and effectiveness and the impact to the organization; promote continual improvement in the training program and process.
- Identify materials, resources, facilities, and other expenses required to support training initiatives. Establish an annual training budget and present to management for approval.
- Keep apprised of project management approaches, tools, and practices promoted by the Project Management Institute and their associated partners, evaluate them, and to the extent it is beneficial and justifiable, integrate them into our internal training efforts.

Required Education/Training:
- Bachelors degree in engineering sciences, education, or other related curriculum or equivalent experience.
- Minimum three years experience in professional project management using PMI's Project Management Book of Knowledge.
- Minimum five years experience in course development and training facilitation for project management, leadership, communications, and other interpersonal skills.
