Beth Lloyd

As a former U.S. Army medical corps officer, Beth knows the importance of camaraderie, professionalism and dedication—the same ideals that appealed to her about IPM. For the last six years, Beth has applied skills honed in the armed forces to her project management work, primarily in the industrial and life sciences arenas. She was promoted to Senior PMC in 2015.

How has your previous experience prepared you for working at IPM?

I was an Army officer for the 25th Infantry Medical Service Corps, based in Hawaii, and later deployed to Iraq for 15 months. I was second in command for a medical company that supported a combat infantry unit. My company was responsible for setting up and operating a clinic on the Forward Operating Base where we lived. Our patients were the 25th Infantry soldiers and contractors that were injured or became ill either on or off duty. Setting this clinic up in a tumultuous and dangerous environment taught me the importance of team alignment, clear communication, and keeping a cool head under pressure.

Please tell us about your family and/or pets.

I’m originally from Gainesville, Florida (go Gators!), and met my husband, Matt, in the military. After leaving active service, we moved to Chicago, and now permanently reside in the northwest suburbs where we live with our two daughters, our son, and two pets: a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Buck, and our two cats, Allie and Max.

What are you passionate about?

My husband, children, and parents are No. 1, but a big part of my passion is my career. I get to do what I love, but the job doesn’t consume my life; I feel I get to keep a healthy work-life balance while pursuing a career that excites and fulfills me.

When interviewing here, what impressed you most about IPM?

The mix of professionalism and friendliness. IPM is a smart group of people where everyone is accomplished, the kind of group I wanted to surround myself with. Although everyone is career oriented and driven, there’s no unhealthy competition.

What have you found to be the best thing about working at IPM?

Learning about new industries and types of projects from our clients and my IPM peers. I feel that you can never stop learning in this industry as the landscape is always changing. That, plus the unique culture, make IPM an ideal place to grow.
